Reason for Building:

A tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the Oldest Bird Sanctuary in North America, on Last Mountain Lake.

Mervin Prychak also created the Goose in Quill Lake, SK and the Bucking Horse and Rider in Sturgis, SK.

The monument had been vandalized as this picture shows. Its head was broken off (it is supposed to be on the left side in this picture).
