Erected by the Soo Minor Baseball Association for the Soo Minor Baseball Association.
The ball came from a closed Union Carbide Plant. It had been used in their process
of purifying some gases. The connecting pipes were cut off and some body work was
undertaken before it was put at its current location. Here is a photo of it being
placed:
It is approximately 2000 times larger than a real baseball. Other trivia: There are 108 stitches on a regular baseball. The stitches on this baseball are approximately 16" long. A regular baseball has a surface area of approximately 24 square inches. The surface area of this ball is approximately 314 square feet.
