Reason for Building:

On Jan 4, 1983, "Motion No. 16 - Dymond Council authorized the commissioning of a statue of a true type holstein cow"
"The purpose of selecting a replica of a statue of a true type holstein cow as supported by Council for the following reasons:
1. to provide a tourist attraction and landmark to encourage visitors to stop, visit the tourist centre and possibly remain in the area for an extended period of time.
2. to give recognition to the economic and social value the farming industry provides in the area."
