The Making of "Andre and Millie Allen"

Andre Allen constructed larger than life models of him and his wife in 1995 to attract customers to their sportshop, The Moose Hunter and Outfitters. The Allen's were kind enough to send me photos of their statues, including shots of their construction.

The statues stand 16 Feet (4.9 Metres) high and each weigh 500 Pounds. Both statues were made from treated wood and feature steel boots. For Andre's hair and beard, the bristles from three 3 push brooms were used (500 holes were drilled into the head and face for them).

They took four months to construct.

Here are some pictures of them under construction (note: the jacket in the first picture that was used as a model for "Millie's" hunting jacket):

The artist (Andre Allen) is holding one of the rifles in the fourth picture. Each rifle has crosshairs on its scope. The last picture is the back of the Andre statue.
