A memorial for the reunion of Meleb, Park and Cumming Schools in 1990.
Approximate cost was $20,000.
The Meleb-Park-Cumming Mushroom Statue depicts three popular local mushrooms: kozari (Boletus) with red tops of mid-summer, smorzhi (Morel) of May, and the velvety pidpankay (Honey Mushroom) of September.
"These three mushrooms that form the statue is the logo for the Meleb-Park-Cumming School Reunion Committee. Mushrooms conjure up many happy memories of picking, cooking, eating; of family and friends; and somehow always Babas (Ukrainian for Grandmother) in the background comforting, sheltering, nourishing as in childhood. People of all ages enjoy scouring the Meleb woods for mushrooms."
That is me in the first photo. It was used by the Canadian Press to accompany an article written about this web site in the Summer of 2000.
Here is what it looks like in the winter:
Wayne Arthur also designed the mallard duck in Petersfield, MB and the white-tailed buck in Poplarfield, MB.
