It was erected for the visit to Edmonton of Pope John Paul II
It was originally built near Namao (North Edmonton) on a farmer's field as an outdoor religious cathederal. The Catholic School's society adopted it and moved it in 1988.
There is a time capsule there to be opened when the organization becomes 200 years old (2088).
For the Papal Mass the Dove was covered with 22oz vinyl fabric.
